CASTILE & LEóN (Spain)

One cannot deny that Castile and Leon is the cradle of many Spanish popular traditions. With more than a thousand years of history, this region has lived every vestige of the past and has now the power to portray its evocative secrets. Located in north-western Spain, Castile and Leon is the largest Spanish region and is divided into nine provinces: Leon, Palencia, Burgos, Soria, Zamora, Valladolid, Segovia, Avila and Salamanca, being Valladolid the capital.

Rich in culture, the region embraces important architectonical artworks from every period, from Segovia’s ancient Roman aqueduct, to Salamanca’s Renaissance design and the 11th Century fortification wall protecting Avila. As with most of Spain, gastronomy here is a pleasant sin, especially if you are into any kind of roast meat as well as Designation of Origin foodstuffs and wine.
